Allison Nichols, Hole 8
31 January 2010
Visiting Golfer Allison Nicholson achieved the feat most golfers’ dream of when she recorded the first Hole-in-One for 2010 at the par 3 Hole 8. Hailing from England, Allison has been a member of the Silecroft Golf Club for just 12 month and plays off a 36 Handicap. As her playing partners celebrated her achievement, Allison was not fully convinced that her ball had indeed gone into the hole. Approaching the green with her wedge and putter in hand, she was delighted to see the ball resting at the bottom of the cup. This is truly a golfing accomplishment that will always hold a special place in her memory. Drinks flowed on the golf club house terrace as Allison and her playing mates toasted her Hole-in-One.
Peter Townsend, Hole 8
28 November 2009
Visiting Golfer Peter Townsend turned his vacation into a memory of a lifetime as he recorded a Hole-in-One at the tricky par 3, Hole 8 on Saturday 28th November 2009. Visiting Taba Heights from England, Townsend played the par 3’s well all week, but never dreamed of achieving a Hole-in-One. Golfers who play their entire lives rarely feel the thrill this golfing milestone, and Peter is now one of the lucky few! Standing on the Tee Box, faced with a front right pin position, the smallest landing area on the Green, Peter chose to hit with a 6 Iron from 167 yards. Catching the ball perfectly, he watched with delight as the ball hung in the air against the stunning Sinai mountain backdrop, then landed softly on the green and gently rolled towards the hole to finally fall into the cup. A celebration was held on the golf terrace by his playing partners to toast Peter’s success.
First Albatross at Taba Heights
5 July 2009
Taba Heights Golf Resort witnessed its first ever Albatross on July 5th. Adrian Mulholland, GM of the Taba Sands Casino achieved this incredible feat on Hole 14, the longest golf hole in Egypt measuring an impressive 620 Yards. After big hitting, Adrian unleashed a drive of 335 Yards and stood on the neatly mown fairway faced with a shot of 285 Yards to the pin. Never one to shy away from a challenge, he launched the ball into the air with his 3 Wood and watched it sail towards the green. The ball landed softly at the front of the green and rolled towards the cup. Having eyesight similar to an Albatross, Adrian watched with great excitement as the ball rolled into the cup for a really achieved Albatross two. “If only I’d entered the two’s club!” Adrian joked.
An Albatross or Double Eagle (as it is referred to in the US) is an achievement rarely seen even in professional golf and is a testament to the long, straight shots Adrian is renowned for in Taba Heights.
Tony Wakefield, Hole 15
27 January 2009
The course witnessed its first Hole-in-One on hole 15 on 27 January 2009. The delighted golfer was Tony Wakefield of Retford Golf Club, England. Using a new Ping G5 hybrid received from his family for Christmas, Tony surely though Father Christmas had come a second time upon hitting his Tee Shot directly into the hole! Tony’s playing partners also found the hole to be kind to them as they raked up a Birdie 2 and a Par 3.
Tony was on holiday with his wife and three other couples staying at the Marriott to enjoy golf in the winter sun. After similar breaks in Thailand, Florida, Spain and Portugal, this year’s destination was the Red Sea where the overall experience left them more than pleased. Tony’s group commented, “A super hotel, good food, an exceptional course and the weather... well, think of the best summer day in England with no humidity and that is how it was two whole weeks in Taba Heights in January”. And to top it all, a Hole-in-One, what more could you ask for!
Tony and his friends are already planning their next trip to the Taba Heights Golf Resort, where he plans to tackle the other Par 3 holes with similar success. For achieving this feat, Tony was the proud recipient of a bottle of Shahrazad wine and a free holiday to Taba Heights courtesy of Peltours (UK), who sponsor Hole-in-One prize at hole 15.
William Meredith, Hole 3
5 December 2008
William Meredith of England scored a Hole-In-One at hole 3 on Friday, December 5th. This is only the second Hole-In-One recorded at Taba Heights Golf Resort since the opening of the course. Playing from the Yellow Tee at a distance of 163 yards, William carried his 3 wood over water, landing the ball on dead aim to watch it roll into the cup. Delighted by his stroke of genius, this was William’s first Hole-In-One and his shot was witnessed by his wife. Course management congratulated him on his amazing feat and encouraged William to buy all his golfing friends a celebratory drink on returning to his home club.
Peter Burr, Hole 8
29 November 2007
Peter Burr, a British expatriate living in Saudi Arabia and a golfer at the Desert Browns course, recorded the first ever Hole-In-One at Taba Heights Golf Resort on. Peter’s 5 iron shot on Hole 8 landed just short of the hole and rolled perfectly into the cup.
