Matchplay Returns to Taba Heights

The Matchplay Grand Finals returned to Taba Heights in May 2009.

This is the second time tournament organizers bring the even to the Taba Heights Golf Resort, arguably the best presented course in the region with lush fairways, true greens and spectacular views of the Sinai Mountains and the crystal clear waters of the Red Sea.

Some 32 competitors made up of 16 Men’s teams and 16 Mixed teams battled it out over the magnificent course to be crowned 2009/10 champions and take the title from 2007/08 Michael Brookbank and James Lightfoot (Men’s Champions), and Ryan Boal and Catherine Corey (Mixed Champions).

The event is run by Marriott Hotels and Resorts in conjunction with Peltours and Taba Heights Golf Resort to offer the UK golfing public the opportunity to play one of the finest golf courses in Egypt. Over 1,600 individual competitors progress through qualifying rounds in the UK to win the opportunity to compete against the crème de le crème of club amateur golfers for a fabulous range of prizes.

Golfers competed over three days of tournament golf followed by a Gala Dinner and presentation ceremony at the 5-star internationally renowned Taba Heights Marriott Red Sea Resort.

The event was also staged in Taba Heights during 2008 and such was the response from the competitors that a return for the Grand Final to Taba Heights was without question.

For more information on the event and to find out how you too could be competing to be crowned the Best of the Best in 2010, visit the official tournament webpage.
